Let's Talk Food Trucks!

All right, let's continue talking about ways to save money at your wedding. One of the ways that clients like to do this is by getting food trucks. Yes! They are fantastic ways to save money so let's talk about them. Hello, my name is Shaunte. I'm a wedding and event planner in the Southern California area. I've been in the wedding business for over 20 years, and I love helping my clients find ways to save money on their weddings and events. The first thing you want to do is make sure that your venue allows them. If you're not at a venue, let's say you're going to do it at your house (we'll talk about home weddings later), check the rules on those. Make sure your venue actually allows food trucks, because not all venues actually allow you to use food trucks. If you're going to and you've got the approval, food trucks are fantastic!  I love them, and I'm a big proponent of them, because when a lot of people think about weddings, they think you have to have fancy food. And let me tell you, folks, I've done a whole lot of weddings and guess what?! Weddings don't need fancy food. They need good food. And you can get food at a food truck that has, well , really good food AND it can also be fancy. Here's the tip for that: you can get food from a food truck with servers. You can set your tables beautifully the way you want, with your food truck out wherever you would put your kitchen. Instead of doing a kitchen build out, you can have a food truck and just have service staff. In fact, service staff is the key to having a food truck because most food trucks do not come with servers. So when you get a food truck, please order service staff because if you don't, what's going to happen at the end of the night is all your friends and family are going to end up having to clean up and throw all the trash away. And we don't want that. And you don't want that on your wedding day. Service staff is the key. There are multiple service staff companies in your area. Look them up if you have a coordinator, which you all know I'm a big proponent of, not just because it's my business but because your coordinator is really the key to making sure that you have a wonderful wedding day. You don't spend it putting out all the fires of craziness on your wedding day. Your coordinator can help you find a service staff company that will make it run smoothly, so you can have service staff who will handle cleaning up, busing your tables, refilling water, throwing out the trash, emptying the trash… making sure that you have a trash, by the way, because we often forget that we need trash cans. Doing all of those can take it up a notch. If you get a food truck and you get service staff, your service staff can help set the tables and make it a full service dinner so your guests don't even have to know that it's a food truck! They’ll think you've got a wonderful kitchen out there, but it's just food from your favorite food truck. Frankly, I think it’s my favorite. I love to do that with one of our favorite pizza oven places. They make wonderful food. You can have pizza with pasta and salad. They make awesome appetizers. There are some fantastic, wonderful Cajun chefs with cuisines that do wonderful three course meals. Of course, since we live in Southern California, the Kogi truck is a Korean fusion food that is amazing. Home of the Korean taco is here in Southern California. Sooooo delicious! You can order them and have them come out to your wedding and do awesome food and they do appetizers and entrees too! Oh man, food trucks are totally a way to do it. Just do it for your wedding and class it up a bit by having service staff and making sure that they can serve and clean up afterwards. That's your budget tip for the day to have a wonderful wedding.
